Vāstu Setting-Out Board

Enter the true facing of the frontage and the boundary dimensions. The board lays the maṇḍala, clips it to the plot, and returns the zone plan, the door pada, the marma and the āyādi test.

Frontage

000° 00′
North
on the cardinal

Facing = the direction the frontage looks out toward. “North, 0°” is exact north. Deviation is measured from that cardinal. Fix this by gnomon shadow or Pole Star, not by an uncorrected magnetic compass.

Plot boundary

Front wall = the boundary along the road, perpendicular to the facing. Depth = front to rear. Measure inside faces.

Building footprint (optional)

If given, the board places it with the larger open space to the north and east, and runs āyādi on the building rather than the compound.

Wall thickness

Standard Indian residential convention — 230 mm (9″) external load-bearing, 115 mm (4.5″) internal partition, per common NBC/IS-aligned practice. This is a structural building-code convention, not a Vāstu rule — adjust to match your actual structural design.

Maṇḍala conventions

These two are the genuinely disputed points in the āyādi literature. Fix one convention and hold it for the whole project.

This board always opens clean — nothing is restored automatically. To keep a plan and come back to it, save it into one of the two slots below (in this browser only; nothing leaves your device). Export turns either into a portable file you can keep elsewhere or hand to someone else; Import reads one back in.

Rules are drawn from Mayamatam, Mānasāra, Samarāṅgaṇa Sūtradhāra, Viśvakarma Prakāśa, Bṛhat Saṃhitā (ch. 53–57) and Matsya Purāṇa 252–257. Every recommendation carries its authority tag. Where the sources disagree or a table differs between recensions, the board reports NOT COMPUTED rather than reconstructing a value. This file runs entirely in the browser; nothing is transmitted.
